Q1:        What can you do for me that my own general practitioner or internist cannot do?

A:        Many patients tell us they are simply running out of steam. They can’t play tennis, jog, or ski like they were doing 15 years ago. Their interest and joy in sex is low and they cannot perform as before.  Life is not fun anymore.

We analyze seven (sometimes more) hormone levels and test their antioxidant levels. We do a complete history and physical and focus on the patient’s quality of life issues.

We investigate their activities, hormones, diet, and antioxidants, and give advice and medications to make them feel and behave young again.

In essence, we help our patients turn back the clock so that they feel more youthful. When their Growth Hormone, Thyroid Hormone, DHEA, and Sex Hormones are optimized and equal to the levels they had at age 30, our patients feel wonderful.

Q2:        I’m depressed, can you help?

A:   Prozac and other antidepressants are sometimes helpful.  But, also, Testosterone and Growth Hormone are extremely important in alleviating stress and depression. Most of our patients on Growth Hormone feel relaxed and a sense of well-being. Exercise also helps our patients with depression.

Q3:        Is this program dangerous?

A:        Not at all. We not only correct low hormone levels and antioxidant levels, but we ensure the hormone levels that are being treated are checked monthly for three months and then when they're stable, they are check every six months.

Q4:        Can I lose weight?

A:        Optimizing your Thyroid Hormone may help if your levels are low.  Growth Hormone will help drop fat percentage and increase lean muscle by 20%.  Testosterone will help build muscle mass and endurance, but only if combined with a good one-hour aerobic exercise program three times per week.

Weight usually is dependent on your dietary habits plus the exercise you do. With an expert dietician we will guide you so that you can lose weight.

Q5:        How do I know if my hormone levels are low?

A:        We check your blood levels with a comprehensive set of panels. These tests cost over $1,000.00, however, we have contracted with a laboratory to charge only $200 to $300, depending on the exact order.

After treatment is started we recheck monthly just the hormones that are being used in the treatment program until they are optimized.

Q6:        Will my insurance pay for my lab tests, consultation, and treatment?

A:        No. Insurances are interested in stamping out disease, not prevention. They will not pay for optimizing your life and good health, nor should they. If you are interested in making yourself feel good again, increasing your sexual ability and pleasure, and improving your health in general, it is your responsibility and it is “fee for service.”

The initial extensive evaluation and workup, including labs, is usually about $1000.00.  This includes developing an individual plan for each patient. Compared with other similar programs around the country, this is very inexpensive.

Growth hormone costs are between $200 and $500 per month, depending on the patient’s needs.  Other hormones, supplements, and antioxidants cost from $30 to $300 per month.

Q7:        Will Growth Hormone make be young again?

A:        No, but you most likely will feel young again.  Most patients say they are doing the things they were doing about 20 years ago.  Activities and attitudes greatly improve.  There is a very long list of advantages when you optimize your Growth Hormone level.

Q8:        Will Testosterone make me strong?

A:        Well, not exactly. However, if you combine Testosterone with exercise, your muscles and stamina will be greatly enhanced.

Testosterone does not grow muscle, but it allows exercise to really work and increase your muscle mass.

Testosterone alone,  increases bone density (men and women), increases libido and sexual performance (men and women), decreases skin wrinkles, decreases depression, and increases your zest for life. Also of interest is that men with low Testosterone levels have a higher incidence of prostate cancer.

Q9:        Is Estrogen dangerous?

A.        Most of the large studies done to evaluate risks with HRT were done using Premarin and Provera (Prempro). Both these hormones are not natural, in fact, Provera is not even a progesterone; it is a Progestin, a synthetic, similar moecule. The studies showed a very slight increase in the risk of breast cancer.

Many experts in this field believe that progestins may be the cause for this rise in risk, not natual Estrogen or Progesterone.

Our thinking on this subject is that the advantages of taking natural estrogen and progesterone far, far outweigh any risks. In fact, recent reports indicate that keeping estrogen levels at a 30 year olds level decreases the incidence of breast cancer.

Q11:        I take Centrum daily and eat a lot of vegetables.  Is this enough?

A:        No. You need to come in for an antioxidant Bioscan Test. For $10.00 we can see if you are getting an adequate diet and antioxidant level in your tissues. If your level is not optimal, we will recommend the best supplements you can take. If your family history is positive for cancer, we will discuss and recommend the best antioxidant, anti-cancer formula we know of.
